Finally got some time to write my review for Curren$y's first major label debut. Actually saw it in a store yesterday but I was broke. Album is produced by Ski Beatz
1. Example - Solid way to start an album. Good production and Spitta does it justice. 7.5/10
2. Audio Dope II - First thing you notice is how dope the beat but I feel Spitta didn't go in on it the way I wish he would have. 7.5/10
3. King Kong - Wasn't feeling this joint when I first heard it but now it's probably one of my favorite joints. Curren$y has some of his best lyrics on the album. Especially the first verse. 9/10
4. Seat Change f. Snoop Dogg - In my opinion this is one of the worst songs on the album. The beat and the rhymes don't seem to flow together, the Snoop verse was terrible but the beat is still nice. I'm guessing this is a chill joint. 6/10
5. Breakfast - Not a fan of the new beat but I guess the original couldn't get cleared because of sample clearances. 7.5/10
6. Roasted f. Trademark & Young Roddy - Solid track. Sounds like the beat for the original Audio Dope. All 3 rappers do a good job on this one. I can say Im a fan of the hook as well. Best Spitta line "Olympic swimming in bitches, Michael/Leon Phelps." 8/10
7. Skybourne f. Big K.R.I.T. & Smoke DZA - Currently waking up to this smooth ass joint. One of my favorites on the album. Best verse on this song belongs to Big K.R.I.T. 9/10
8. The Hangover f. Mikey Rocks - Another song to wake up to. Spitta's flow on this song is perfect. In my opinion it's one of his better verses on the album. "The game in my pocket like a Nintendo DS, I left my last one on the jet." Beat is smooth and Mikey's verse was solid. 9/10
9. The Day f. Mos Def & Jay Electronica - My favorite song on the album. Mainly because of the beat and the hook. Spitta kills it and of course Jay Elec killed it. We need to hear more material from this group supposedly called "Center Edge Territory" 9.5/10
10. Prioritize f. Nesby Phibs - I probably would have rated this higher if it wasn't for some wack lines like "Them niggas ain't shit just motherfuckin poo poo". But the hook does perfectly. And Spitta half way goes in on the last verse. Perfect joint to ride to though with that incredible beat. 8.5/10
11. Chilled Coughpee f. Devin The Dude - I'm not gonna lie I didn't really give this song a listen. Once again the beat is solid. But Devin The Dude's first verse kinda annoyed me. 6/10
12. Address f. Stalley - Can't get enough of this joint. One of the album's best. Great hook, dope beat and two rappers that can spit. What else do you want. 9.5/10
13. Under The Scope - Different beat from the one that dropped back in November. Sounds better. One of the best three songs on the album. Song got me sold on Spitta. Ends the album nicely but still makes a statement. 9.5/10
Production on the album earns an A+. There were no bad beats. But as a whole the album gets a grade of 8/10 which means a solid B. I'd put this in my top 10 rap albums of the year.
