KiD CuDi Announces Rock Album And New Mixtape

CuDi recently joined Twitter and recently announced that he will be releasing a rock album this year titled "Wizard", and he also will drop a new rap mixtape titled "A Man Named Scott". I'm more in favor of him releasing a rock album probably than any other rapper. If you heard "Erase Me" than obviously you know what he can do.

MTV: The Biggest Hip Hop Story of 2010?

2010 saw Nicki Minaj reign supreme, Sherbert show us how much of a legend he may become, Guru leaving God’s green earth, Lil Wayne returning from Riker’s, Kanye West making his triumphant return to hip-hop, Eminem showing he hasn’t lost a step, Rozay creating the hugest club anthem, a bevy of rappers becoming familiar with the law and much much more. BUT, what was the biggest story of the year? MTV News digs deep for the answer!

MTV's Man of The Year: Kanye West

He didn’t sell the most albums (that was Eminem) or have the year’s hottest single (that was Usher), but at the close of 2010, there really is no other choice for MTV News’ Man of the Year than Kanye West.

After all, no one dominated the pop-culture landscape quite like he did. From his self-imposed hiatus to his triumphant return to his tantrums (and, of course, his tweets), everyone was talking about West in 2010. No one completed as compelling a comeback story, and most importantly, no one released an album as searing and soaring as My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. And he did it all his way, without compromise or contrition. It truly was 12 months to behold.

Jay Electronica Signs To Roc Nation

So Jay-E is the newest signee to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. Congrats, now put out Act II.

Earlier I spoke to Jay Elec about the big news, and his plans. He said that the actual contract was signed on Saturday, after a few weeks of intense daily communication and creative courtship. How did it start? With a chance meeting at the Spotted Pig. How did Electronica know Hov was serious? His second replay email came attached with a verse. That ended up becoming the Jay Electronica and Jay-Z collaboration “Shiny Suit Theory” (featuring French chanteuse Charlotte Gainsbourg and The-Dream).

There’s irony in the fact Jay-Z appears on a Jay Elec song that’s based on Diddy’s description of Jay Elec. Because Diddy has been mentoring and courting Jay for over a year, in the hopes of signing him as well. Electronica insists he values everything Puff contributed and hopes to have him involved in his career, but said “Jay-Z made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. And I have the freedom I need too.” The natural of the underground, the anti-establishment, the independent artist is rapidly changing…so I’m anxious to see what happens when Jay the conglomerate and Jay the mystic mix commerce and art.
